TORONTO’S LANEWAY
SOMETIMES, THE SPARK IS OBVIOUS.AND ALSO LIKE I’M CURIOUS ABOUT
Like, when I think about
Because I’m kinda in a lanway.
Like…
I’m just thinking out loud
Cause like I live in a laneway
And I feel like because
Like, there is a small road
But it's not a main road
Like Its a road
But mostly you walk on it, you drive on it, because there is no other way out
But it's not like a street.
You know what I mean?
And, For that reason
Can I get mail? because I don't have an address
There’s that, but that's besides the point
The point is because I’m in a lane, I like have, like, a different type of relationship to my neighbours
Which is really interesting.
Um…
Like it feels more communal because its not like a street, like, you know what I mean, in a way.
But it’s also like
What if you were like, like, I don't know, justl ike had mobility challenges.
Cause its because its rocky
Part of it is paved but
The other part is pretty rocky
I don't know, it just interesting
I’m kinda going on
This is not the same as being in the city
But hahaha,
But it did give some though, give some thoughts
Um...
Because I guess i biked through the city a lot
So um, it,kinda, of gave me another view
You are able to access the city in a different way
And so it was interesting finding these bike paths that go
Like
Neighbourhoods
I can’t remember there was this one that was my favourite bike path and it went through this cute little neighbourhood
It wasn't like a main street
But
It connected to other ones
It was kinda of up in your area
What street was that?
It was right by Lansdowne
And
Um..
Lansdowne and
Bloor
Area
I can’t remember now
But anyway
I’m kinda going on a tangent
I dunno if anything I’m saying is making sense.

OK so much running through my head.
Aires seasons in full effect, is this how you all feel, all the time? WHOA. I went to a writing workshop at Issues on Wednesday and she suggested a “Noticed List”. So this will be my type of noticed list.
Maybe I should put boundries. So that I’m staying within one area. I got this idea when I was Ubering home one day, because my street is a one-way there’s a shortcut instead of having to go on busy Bloor. Same setting, different day, different story. One time it was a drunk person on their bike.
Kanika also asked If I want to do this on my point and shoot? Which is a great idea, my mind went straight to Hassan but I think those days are done.

Journal
APRIL 4TH, 2024
I'm currently walking the laneway,
And I fucking love it.
I like that I’m not taking pictures
I don't want to take pictures.
That project is done.
For now at least.
Yea so I’m just like,
Chilling
I’m loving this laneway, it's so quiet
Smoking my joint
No one can see me
PROJECT
I was inspired when I saw Ed Ruscha’s work at the MoMA with my sister. Every single building on Sunset strip was his project.
First class, we learned the different ways of experimentation. This project had all three.
Second class we went onsite and I was inspired by the mundane and everyday-ness of it all

Third class we had independent study and experimented with poetry
N+7 method turns my previous journal entry into this:
APRIL 4TH, 2024
I'm currently wallet the laneway,
And I fucking luck it.
I like that I’m not taking pierrots
I door't want to take pierrots.
That promenade is done.
For now at least.
Yea so I’m just like,
Chilling
I’m loving this laneway, it's so quip
Smuggler my jotter
No one can see me
Fourth class we collaged.
For our final project,
On a perfectly overcast day,
I finally did it.
I took a photo of every garage door in the laneway.
And I fucking love it.
